Khandige Environment Research Foundation
Khandige environment research foundation (KERF) was born out of the commitment to scientific research and biodiversity conservation. Since 2001, the landscape which is part of Khandige estates and eco projects limited has served as a living laboratory where ecologists, botanists, zoologists, and conservation practitioners have studied forest recovery, species diversity, and ecosystem dynamics.
Through sustained research, habitat restoration, and collaboration with leading institutions, KERF contributes valuable knowledge towards understanding and conserving India’s natural heritage.
This historic letter, sent on August 26, 2003, from Rashtrapati Bhavan by the then President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, conveys official appreciation to Shri Vinod Bhat, for submitting a biodiversity report on the Sirumalai Estate. Dr. Kalam commended their conservation initiatives in preserving local flora and fauna, and added a personal handwritten note returning both copies of the report for their records, serving as a rare presidential endorsement of private ecological stewardship in Tamil Nadu.
